Modern rooms, amazing views of the night's sky, the staff was excellent! I had a healthy and delightful breakfast and it had lots of food. It was a stunning and unbeatable location just off north central Oregon and the lovely gardens at the Balch and hood River.

The beautiful building offers a charming atmosphere, upgraded with a cute lobby and well-preserved woodwork that reflects a bygone era. Enjoyed the delicious continental breakfast and the lovely patio for drinks, complemented by the fine view of Mt. Hood. Although the stay was enjoyable, noise levels from nearby guests in the shared spaces could be better managed.

I had a lovely time with a cozy room and a nice private bathroom. It was great to unwind in the charming garden area and patio. The only hiccup was the limited dinner menu, but it didn't really change how enjoyable my stay was. Definitely recommend checking out the bistro for a bite!

I stayed for two nights in a Queen Room with Private Bathroom. The staff provided friendly service and were very attentive. I faced challenges with the steep stairs due to accessibility issues for my husband. The dining options were limited, which could be improved for those looking for variety.

The shared bathrooms may not be ideal for everyone.

The hotel offers charming antique furnishings and an inviting atmosphere. The gardens present amazing views of Mount Hood and provide a relaxing outdoor space for unwinding after a day's adventures.
Shared bathrooms may throw some off, especially if you're not a fan of communal arrangements-it's an old hotel vibe, if that's not your style. The dining menu feels a bit sparse. While you can find decent meals like salmon cakes, you might be left wanting more variety. Expect to wake to the creaky floors echoing gently-a quaint touch for some, but potentially disruptive for light sleepers.

I loved the historic charm of the Balch Hotel. The antique decor transported me back in time. Enjoyed the beautiful view of Mount Hood from my room. The gardens were fine. Breakfast included homemade goodies, but I wished for more variety in options. The shared bathrooms threw me off at first, but they were surprisingly clean. I could hear everything happening in the hallways, which disrupted my sleep a bit. A bit of a trek up the stairs, so keep that in mind if mobility is a concern.

The kids loved the cozy bonfire at night, and we even took an exciting jet boat tour on the Lower Deschutes River Canyon. The hotel itself has charming decor.
In my wife's opinion, having more family-friendly dining options would be great.
